Rockport, Texas
Mary Martha Scott Kautz "Scotty" passed away February 2, 2020, a few days short of her 88th birthday. She was born February 25, 1932, in Dallas, to R.G and Lois Scott. She spent her early years in and around Jewett, Texas, a small town about halfway between Houston and Dallas.
Scottie Graduated from nearby Centerville High School, and entered Texas State College for Women, but after a year she transferred to Texas U, where she acquired a degree in Elementary Education in 1953. She then moved to Rockport at the urging of her "Forever" friend Nell Herring, (since age 2) who came a year earlier. Scottie taught Second Grade in Rockport until she retired.
She married her lifelong love, James Kautz and they adopted a son, Mike. They loved to travel and saw most of the USA travelling by automobile. Jim had many business interests and they lived a full life. Scotty was a member of the First Methodist Church, served as a docent at the Fulton Mansion when it first opened as a State Park Attraction.
Scotty was preceded in death by her faithful husband, her beloved son Mike, her parents, and her Forever Friend Nell.
Left to cherish her memory is her cousins, Loy Newberry, Scott Newberry, and Cynthia Plant; nieces, Vicki Prince, and Tamara Anderson; nephews, Randall Rouquette, and Keven Rouquette.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Rockport First United Methodist Church.
