Fidel Garcia Sr.

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Fidel “Rey” Garcia, Sr., our loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend to all whose lives he touched, on July 9, 2020.

He left us peacefully at his residence in Rockport, TX.  He was in his 85th year.

Fidel was born in Rockport, TX to Josephina Dominguez and Chano Garcia on February 25, 1935. He had two brothers, Joe & Daniel. He met his beautiful wife and best friend for life, Inasia "Dolly" Valdez and they married on September 29, 1956. They shared 63 wonderful years together. They married young, grew up together and raised a big, wonderful family.

He was the beloved father of Homer (Sandra), Fidel (Hilda), Amy (Michael), Arthur, Sidney (Lisa), Naomi (Victor) and their granddaughter, Jasmine. His family was his pride and joy.

He was also a devoted grandfather to 24 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Fidel lived a full life as a wonderful father and grandfather, gentleman, provider, hard worker, uplifter to all, full of love and compassion, excellent advisor, musician, singer/songwriter, yard caretaker, builder and creator and most of all a beautiful man to his wife, He enjoyed family gatherings, traveling and singing for the Lord. He devoted his life to the Lord in 1976. Later, he and his wife began a gospel ministry, El Dueto Fidel y Dolly. They traveled to Mexico and throughout the US spreading their message. He played a twelve string guitar (bajo sexto) and sang and harmonized alongside his wife.  He lived for Jesus for many years; a great and faithful servant.

Most of all he loved his family and instilled in his kids strong values that have served them well. He will be incredibly missed and forever in our hearts.
