William Abeel Statesir Jr. passed away on November 16th, 2022 in Corpus Christi Texas at the age of 93. Bill was born in Freehold, NJ on March 28, 1929. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1950 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He was a founding member and very active in helping start up a chapter of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity at R.P.I. He worked for Dupont Company for 35 years. Most of his career was in technical and production assignments in New Jersey and Ingleside, TX.
Bill married his high school sweetheart, Helen Sacchi, on September 23, 1950, and spent 70 wonderful years together. They raised their 3 children in Woodstown, NJ. Bill and Helen enjoyed a beautiful home on a canal in Rockport from 1981 to 2006 where they enjoyed entertaining their precious family. After retiring from DuPont in 1985, Bill worked as a realtor in Rockport for 7 years. They retired to The Carriage Inn in Sept. 2006. Bill was active in church work, community activities, scouting, and square dancing. He loved boating, fishing, camping, and traveling.
Bill was a quiet and loving man who will be greatly missed. He is proceeded in his death by his wife Helen S. Statesir and his brother, John L. Statesir. He leaves behind his sons, William C. (Tommie) Statesir of San Antonio, TX, Mark D. (Beth) Statesir of Kingwood, TX and daughter, Joyce L. (Gene) Broerman Jr. of Portland, TX; 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Audrey Statesir of Freehold, NJ and his caregiver and friend, Lucy Rau.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
