William Nordmark

William “Bill” Franklin Nordmark, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Rockport, TX on July 6, 2022. Born March 28, 1935 in South Range, MI, Bill grew up in the Houghton/Hancock area of Michigan’s upper peninsula.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Impy/Inez (Lantto) Solomonson, foster parents Arvid and Lillian (Solomonson) Nordmark, brother Olaf Solomonson, and sister Ruth Lantto.

Bill is survived in death by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Kay (Covey) Nordmark, and sons Donald William Nordmark and Jay Nordmark. Also surviving are grandchildren Amanda (Douglas) De Vries, Stephen Nordmark, Daniel Nordmark, Kay Anne Nordmark, and William Nordmark.

Bill served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958, then made a career as an Electronics Technician for the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement in 1982. His job allowed him and his family to live overseas in American Samoa for several years, and then they settled in the Delton MI area until retirement. Bill and Pat stayed in the Kalamazoo MI area for some years before moving to Rockport TX.  In his retirement, Bill enjoyed hobbies such as cross country cycling, metal detecting, going on cruises with wife Pat, and finally, his favorite activity of wood carving. Bill loved having (and spoiling) pets throughout his life, most especially a Chinese Shar Pei named Brownie and a black cat called BoyCat.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm Wednesday July 13 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport TX.
