Vivian Richard Laqua age 90 of Rockport, Texas passed away on November 28, 2024, into the loving arms of Jesus Christ. She was known as Sister Birdie here in Texas and Aunt Bennie in Louisiana. She was born in Basile, Louisiana, on September 22, 1934, to Xavier and Mary Enola (Gatte) Richard. She graduated from Iota High School in 1951. She met the love of her life Reverend Boyce L Laqua on July 3, 1955. It was love at first sight. They married the fourth time they saw each other on August 17, 1955, celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary in August. Vivian worked alongside Boyce in the Ministry for 66 years. Vivian and Boyce pioneered Victory Chapel Church, Rockport, TX in 1975 retiring in March of 2023. Serving the Lord Jesus Christ was her passion travelling to over 20 countries preaching God's Word alongside Boyce. She was a model wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a Proverbs 31 Lady.
She is preceded in death by her parents Xavier and Enola, two sisters Anna and Myrna, her in-laws Otto and Hilda Laqua, and many other family members.
She is survived by her husband Reverend Boyce L Laqua, son and daughter-in-law Dwayne and Mollie, her daughter Suryta Laqua, her son and daughter-in-law Brady and Marty. Her grandchildren Stephen(Ian), Hollie, Lacey, Dustin(Maddie), Roman(Gloria), Brooke(Aaron), Ryan (Lauren), Randy, Shelby, Seth, and Brysian as well as her great-grandchildren Evelyn, Maya, Addison, David, Paul, Sophia, Nora, Austin, Aaron Keith, Autumn, Tyler, Brooklyn, Dante, Roman, Angel, and Max. Her sisters Peewee Monceaux and Sue (Wayne) Peterkin both from Evangeline, Louisiana, and sister-in-law Lillian Laqua of Victoria, TX. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will have visitation on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport from 3 until 8. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm also at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. Service will be conducted by her husband Reverend Boyce L Laqua.
Our Mother will be greatly missed. Her unconditional love, prayers, and guidance will remain in our hearts as well as our Dad.
