Vercie “Marcel” Callender, Jr. (45) was born November 26, 1978, in Richland, WA to Vercie Marcel Callender, Sr. (deceased 1993) and Mary Ann Hanzelka Callender.
Marcel is survived by his mother Mary Ann Callender of Ingleside on the Bay, his brother Vance Callender (Brooke) of San Antonio, his nephews Grayson & Porter of Austin and San Antonio, and various aunts, uncles, & cousins. The Callender family moved from Washington back to (Ingleside) Texas in 1979. Marcel attended Ingleside schools graduating from high school in 1996. He attended Sam Houston State University, but then graduated from Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice...just like his brother.
Growing up Marcel loved playing baseball & tennis, along with playing the coronet in the HS marching band, but fishing was his dearest pastime. He worked a short time for Homeland Security at the Corpus Christi Airport & security at the Padre Staples Mall. He later became an Apprentice Electrician working in various locations, including the Ingleside Jr High School. He was known to be a damn hard worker, a dedicated fisherman, and a man with a heart of gold.
