Vallie C. “Taddy” Cox

Vallie C. "Taddy" Cox, age 74, passed away peacefully after a short illness, on November 1, 2023. Taddy was born in Rockport, Texas on June 14, 1949 and was preceded in death by his father Willard Cox, Sr., mother Annie Cox Duncan, and siblings Willard Cox, Jr. and Phyllis Cox Smith.

Left to cherish his memory are siblings Clara Cox, Baytown, TX, Terry Cox (Phyllis), Corpus Christi, TX, Bobbi Mills (Bill) and Danny Cox (Jeri), Rockport, TX, Andy Cox, Fulton, TX, Cathy Cannon (Keith), Georgetown, TX, and sister-in-law Carolyn Cox, Rockport, TX, and many nieces and nephews who he had close bonds with.

Taddy served in the Army from 1969-1971 with much of that time spent in Vietnam. After his service ended, Taddy returned home where he started working for Caspary and Wendell on supply and crew boats. Through the years he worked for Dearborn, Offshore Logistics and Hornbeck Offshore Services, finishing his forty year career with Tidewater Marine as Chief Engineer. Taddy's career took him to many different places in the U.S. and other countries.

During his retirement he loved to fish and flounder. Because his days were spent going down to the Fulton Harbor checking things out, his family fondly called him the Fulton Harbormaster. Taddy loved being on the water so much he bought a houseboat which was docked behind his house. When Taddy wasn't on the water you could find him relaxing in his recliner watching old western shows with Gunsmoke being his absolute favorite.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport on November 11th at 10 a.m. A visitation reception at the funeral home for family and friends will be held immediately following the service.
