Teresa Flores’ laugh could be heard across the house. There was no build-up — when she found something funny, she went from listening to knee-slapping in an instant and when you heard it, you couldn’t help but laugh along.
On July 17th, the world lost that infectious joy. She leaves behind her children, Melissa Mann, Lance Flores, and Cynthia Perez, her fur daughter Bella, her grandsons William Drake Flores and Lance Flores, Jr. and a tribe full of family and friends who long to hear her “Wohoo”ing from the kitchen or the dance floor.
Teresa, 59, lifelong resident of Rockport, could be found singing and dancing in the kitchen as she prepped a big meal for whoever wanted to stop by. If there was an opportunity to host dinner, she would jump at the chance (literally). If you couldn’t hear her from the kitchen, that’s because she was on the dance floor, dancing and laughing with her friends and children – and most likely her children’s friends too.
That was the thing about Teresa. She was intimate with every person she met. She made every new stranger feel like an important friend. With a bubbly personally like hers, how could you not instantly want to tell her your entire life story? She took people in and fed them and loved them. She could go from the life of the party to having a respectful and intelligent conversation, making sure to always consider both sides or to help solve a problem.
Teresa also really loved movies. “Movies were her stuff,” family members say. It didn’t matter if she was in the theater or at home with her popcorn, she loved seeing a new flick.
She was bright and colorful, like the butterflies she loved so much and she’s been set free. If you hear an echo of her laugh, just know that’s her “wohoo”ing to you from Heaven.
The rosary will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes at 814 E. Main St on Thursday, July 23rd from 7-9 pm. The burial will be at Rockport Cemetery on Friday, July 24th at 10 am.
