Susan Kimmons "Susie Q"

Rockport ~ Susan Montgomery Kimmons, 81, our beloved wife, mother and MiMi passed away April 12th, 2023, surrounded by her family. “Susie Q,” as the family called her, has been bedridden for many years with several illnesses, including COPD. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 27, 1942. Shortly after birth, the family moved to Long Island, New York and a few years later moved to Houston where she attended high school at San Jacinto High School and then attended the University of Texas Dental School. She practiced dental hygiene for many years, and is how she met her husband, Richard S. Kimmons, in 1975. They married one year later and moved from Houston to New Braunfels in 1977 to finish raising her daughters. Rick and Susie moved to the Coastal South Bend in 1996 and built their home in the Rockport Country Club. She was an avid artist that frequented Estelle Stair Gallery for classes and would often have her paintings displayed at the Rockport Center for the Arts.

Susie lived a wonderful and full life with her husband Rick and were married for over 47 years. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband, Richard (Rick) S. Kimmons: daughters, Lisa Beach (Carl), of San Antonio, Texas; and Stacy Lyles Hawkins (Brad) of Rockport, Texas; granddaughters: Madison Hawkins Hierholzer (Slaton) of Spring, Texas; Karys Hawkins and Kenzie Merrick Kimmons, both of San Antonio, Texas; and many extended family members and friends. Susie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Eula and Albert Clugston, and her sister, Janet Ressling. Susie will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

The family will celebrate her life with family and friends in a private ceremony on May 20th, 2023.
