Stephen Patrick Akin

Stephen Patrick Akin, 73, of Rockport, TX, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025 in Rockport, TX. Stephen was born in Pittsfield, Illinois to John and Kathleen Akin(Carmine) on July 15, 1951. Stephen and his family moved to Rockport in 1966. He worked as an Interior Designer for the majority of his career; both as an independent and with various companies. Many of Steve’s clients quickly developed into close friendships that he held dear to his heart.

He was a talented artist at heart with an eye for beauty and design. He had a great love of British TV and music. Steve had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed socializing in the best of times.

Steve is preceded in death by his brother, John Vincent Akin, his father, John Ray Akin and his mother, Kathleen Joan Akin.

Steve is survived by his sister, Moya Garcia (Akin) of Rockport, nephews; Frank Garcia, Efraine (Jeanine) Akin and Vincent (Kara) Akin. Steve is also survived by great-niece, Baylee Krahn; great-nephews, Jacob (Camren) Akin, Vincent Akin Jr (Elena), Thomas Womble (Sadie); all of Rockport.

The family of Stephen Akin wishes to extend sincerest thanks to Dr. Root’s office as well as the nurses, CNAs and staff of Gentiva Hospice. Contributions or memorials in Stephen’s name can be made to Gentiva Hospice of Corpus Christi or the Rockport Center for the Arts.

Private family services will be held.
