Stayton Hefner

Stayton Weldon Hefner, 86 passed away January 13, 2017. He was born February 7, 1930 in Yoakum, Texas to Lawrence Weldon Hefner and Lula Smith Hefner. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Reynolds Metals in 1985, was a square dance caller from 1975-1995 and was an accomplished collector and repairman of antique clocks. He was an avid fisherman and loved to travel. His love of music and playing the guitar took him to The Rialto Theater on Tuesday nights for open mic. Stayton was a member of North Bay Church of Christ in Portland.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Jean Hefner; step sons, Hal Ray Berry, Jr. (Cherryl) of Utopia, Larry Berry (Diane) of The Woodlands; sister, Fayrene Clark of Hallettsville; grandchildren, Jared Berry of Houston and Jennifer Berry and Buddy Ray Berry of Utopia.

A memorial service will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at North Bay Church of Christ, 1501 Denver St., Portland, Texas.
