Sabas Garza

We mournfully announce that Sabas Perez Garza 72 passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024 at his home in Ingleside Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Macedonia Garza, his three brothers Fred, Auturo and Ruben Garza. He is survived by his three sons Raul Garza (Jennifer) of Oklahoma, Carlos Garza (Heather) of Ingleside, Texas, Ruben Garza of Ingleside, Texas and stepdaughter Michelle (Irving) Tompkins of Silverton, Oregon, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers Joe, Ernest, Daniel, Simon and sisters Guadalupe, Rita, also many nieces and nephews. 

Sabas was born on June 9, 1952 in Ingleside Texas. He was one of ten children. After graduating from Ingleside High School Sabas joined the Airforce. He served his country from 1972 To 1976 during the Vietnam War era. During this time frame he based in Yokota Japan. When he returned from Vietnam he began working in construction as a rigger and crane operator. Sabas also known to many as “BLUES” was a devoted father who cherished spending time with his family and friends. Anyone that knew Sabas knew he had a very witty personality, always cracking jokes and cutting up. His hobbies included fishing, reading the newspaper and watching the Dallas Cowboys. In his retired life he loved sitting under the mesquite tree at his house which became known as the “Blues Mesquite Lounge” drinking a cold Budweiser and smoking a cigarette. This became the gathering place where many of his family and friends would stop by and hang out. His infectious smile, warm heart and unwavering love will be missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2024, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home. Reciting of the Rosary will begin 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. Interment to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
