Ruth Buckingham

Our beloved Ruth Eileen Buckingham passed away March 4th, 2023, surrounded by family after her fight with cancer and a heart attack. Ruth was born in Pearland, Texas, on July 3rd, 1953, and became a resident of Aransas Pass and Rockport in 2010. In her younger years, Ruth loved roller skating, swimming, going to the zoo, chinese garden in San Antonio and going to the beach with her family.

Ruth married Jarious Buckingham in 1977 and was married for 32 years before he passed away. Being newly married, Ruth loved going to the river and beach with Jarious. She also loved playing softball with Jarious.

Ruth was a dedicated mother to her two sons and two daughters, always making sure they had everything they needed. She loved going to see Christmas lights with her children and going to the beach with them.

Ruth’s many passions were for her grandkids, where there was no other love like “grandma love”. Grandma was the greatest grandmother to her 8 grandchildren, she would always be there when they wanted to learn how to swim, when they needed their fingernails cut and when they just wanted to have a sleepover with grandma . Her favorite time with her grandchildren is when she got to see them smile and be happy around her, even if they were loud and hyper.

Ruth was definitely the heart of the family, always hosting and cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. She loved seeing all her family and grandkids together. She enjoyed cooking large meals and amazing desserts, which she taught her daughter in law how to cook. Ruth loved to go shelling with her grandkids and just to be by herself sometimes. She loved to go fishing and going to the beach to take a swim. She loved to read but also loved to watch soap operas. Her favorite thing was to garden with her most special grandchild, Marley. She enjoyed her career in CNA, where she worked in three different cities to help people, which she did until her last breath. She worked at Rockport Coastal Care, Livingston Coastal Care and Gold Sun Retirement in San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her sons Marshall and Jarious Buckingham. Her Daughter in law Brandi Ross. Her daughters Jerri Parra and Susan Buckingham. Her most special grandkid, Marley Buckingham.

She is survived by her sons, Marshall and Jarious Buckingham, her daughters, Tamina Adkison, Jerri Parra and Susan Buckingham, her grandkids, Marley Buckingham, Maverick Ross, Jarious Buckingham the 4th, Ricky and Nikki Adkison, TIna and Thersea Adkison, her sisters, June and Jeanette, and her brothers, Billy, Raman and Wayne and her friend, Traci Ross.

We will be holding a celebration of life sometime in Mid April, we will keep everyone updated on the event.
