Russell “Rusty” Dean Hagy was born September 18th,1963, to Gloria and Donald Hagy in Sinton, TX. He returned to the Lord on Friday, August 30th, 2024; he was 60 years old.

 Russell graduated from Aransas Pass High School in 1982. In 1984, he joined the United States Marine Corps on the buddy system with his best friend, Michael Shultz, who is like a brother. Russell served for four years, reaching the rank of Corporal and earning sharpshooter designation. While in the Corps, he was deployed twice to Japan. He was a dedicated veteran who never shied away from an opportunity to discuss his love for America and the Marines.

 At a young age, Russell developed a passion for photography. He eventually used this talent to serve his country again as an ophthalmic photographer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He worked for the department for 16 years as aTeleRetinal Imaging Program Coordinator and FacilityTeleHealth and Rural Access Coordinator.

 Many family members and friends will miss having Russell in their lives. Russell thoroughly enjoyed looking at the planets and the stars in the night sky; please think of him when you do.

 Russell is preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Hagy. He is survived by his three children, Alexis Hagy, Dylan Hagy, Elle (fiancé Delanie) Hagy; granddaughter, Lylee McLaughlin;father, Donald Hagy; sister, Kimberly (Pete) Tijerina; nieces and nephews, Pete (Meghan) Tijerina Jr., Tyler (Logan) Tijerina and daughter, Bonnie Grace Tijerina, Jacquelyn Tijerina; and girlfriend, Yvette Vaughn. 

 Funeral services will be at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. The viewing is Thursday, September 12th – family,4:00 - 5:00 p.m. and public, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. – with the funeral on Friday, September 13th, at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi at 1:00 p.m. A reception to honor Russell’s life and share cherished memories is being held after the interment at 758 S. Rife St., Aransas Pass, TX.
