Maxine Gray

Maxine Gray, 84, of Ingleside, Texas passed away February 26, 2025. She was born in Woodsboro, Texas on August 30, 1940 to Jake and Jim Catchings.

Maxine married Bobby Don Gray, the love of her life, on June 25, 1960 a day before he turned 25. Theirs was a love that endured even after Bobby passed in 2020. She spoke of him daily.

Maxine had a servant’s spirit and a heart for children. She began a daycare in her home. She often commented that she had potty-trained most of the kids in Ingleside. After a time she began substituting in the school district, eventually becoming a teacher aide at Cook Primary in Ingleside, Texas.

She is survived by two daughters; Pat Shugart (Stacy) and Pam Hawes (Jerral); three grandchildren; Bowen Shugart (Kim), Benny Shugart (Brittany) and Hannah Hawes (Tristan Edwards) and seven great grandchildren; J.J., Ethan, Seth, Mackensie, Emelie, Baylie and Brooklyn.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 4th at 2:00pm at Bethal Baptist in Ingleside, Texas.
