Rowdy Longino

d. September 20, 2017

Rowdy "Ray" Longino was born on March 17, 1936 in Sandia, TX to Ray Robert Longino and Blanche Plunkett Longino. He moved to Rockport, TX in 1939 to live on a working dairy farm. He attended Aransas County Schools until his graduation in 1955. Ray began dating Deanna Hopkins in 1955 and wed her March 23, 1957. They shared a life of over 60 years together with their four children, Sherri, Jay, John, and Jerry. Ray owned Ray's Texaco Service Station in Rockport for over 40 years.

When he wasn't working, he was a servant leader in his community through active participation in Men's Baseball Leagues, Pony League, Little League, and as a Lion's Club Member, and he served as Aransas County Precinct 2 County Commissioner for over 24 years. After his retirement, he continued his dedicated life working with Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief, South Texas Children's Home as Christmas Coordinator, and attending all athletic events for the Rockport-Fulton Fighting Pirates.

Ray always enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant, and white-wing dove with his many friends. Many stories can be told about those trips. Ray never met a stranger and everyone in his path received a handshake, hug, and a smile. He always had a giving hand and would give everything he had in order to help another.

Rowdy Ray Longino left his earthly home on September 20, 2017. He is preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his son John David Longino.
