Ronald "Ron" Douglas Murray

Ronald Douglas Murray (Ron) was born July 11, 1948 in Ventura, California.  He passed away March 17, 2019 at his home in Rockport, Texas.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lucille Murray.  He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda, daughter, Tonia Ramaker (Calvin) of Rockport, and son, Doug, of Atlanta, Georgia.  Calvin and Tonia's children are:  Ash, Kai, Caitlyn, Conner and Cailey. He was the oldest of five sons.  His brothers are:  Don of Nampa, Idaho, John of Belgrade, Montana, Victor of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Roger of Ashland, Kentucky.

Ron and Wanda were married in 1971 in Kansas, and Ron graduated with a Civil/Structural Engineering degree in 1974 from the University of Arkansas.  His first job as an engineer was in Houston at Brown and Root.  Ron and Wanda welcomed Tonia to their family in 1975, and soon thereafter moved back to the country in Independence, Kansas.  In 1977, they welcomed Doug to their family. They moved to a suburb of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1981, and stayed until 2002, when they made Rockport their home.

Ron and Wanda enjoyed spending time with their family and each other.  They enjoyed studying the Bible together and trying new restaurants.  Ron also loved sailing and strumming his guitar.  Throughout his life, Ron was a part of a Christian non-denominational home church fellowship that was the foundation for his life and that of his family.

A favorite portion of scripture was Psalm 107:23-24:  "They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord and his wonders of the deep."

He was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather, and a friend and mentor for many.  He was very loved, and will be sorely missed by all.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Mr. Murray's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Fulton Learning Center cafeteria, with a luncheon to follow.
