Rodney Kyle Smith
Rodney (Ronnie) Kyle Smith passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2018. He was born in Weslaco, TX on May 25, 1949 to Euen D. Smith, Sr. and Elverda Coker. Ronnie lived many years of his life in Corpus Christi. He was educated at West Oso elementary and W. B. Ray High School. After graduation, he joined the U. S. Marine Corps with basic training at Camp Pendleton and was later stationed in Hawaii. Upon returning to civilian life, his chosen profession was training to be an Instrument Technician working most currently with Occidental Petroleum, retiring about 5 years ago.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Elfrances Sue Greenwood; brother, Euen D. Smith, Jr. and wife, Geraldine; brother, Ambrose Fritzgerald Smith and sister-in-law, Joy Smith.
He is survived by his brothers, Don Carlos Smith of Weslaco; Billy Douglas Smith, Sr. and wife, Nan, of Lake Jackson; sister-in-law, Marilyn Smith of Hereford and brother-in-law, James Greenwood of Corpus Christi, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Valley and various areas of the State of Texas.
Ronnie loved his family, his dogs, hunting, fishing and his many years researching
the Smith Family genealogy sharing the family's information through pictures and stories. Ronnie will always be remembered for his kindness towards family and friends in need, by either giving them shelter or financially.
Ronnie's services will be held at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018.
