ROBERT (BOBBY) RIVERA

ROBERT (BOBBY) RIVERA WENT TO BE WITH HIS LORD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2023.
BOBBY WAS BORN IN CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. HE GRADUATED FROM ROY MILLER HIGH SCHOOL (CLASS OF 1971). HE ENLISTED IN THE U. S. NAVY IN DECEMBER 1972. AFTER BOOT CAMP, HE WENT TO CORPMAN SCHOOL WHERE HE FINISHED WITH HIGH HONORS. HE WAS THEN STATIONED ABOARD THE CARRIER U.S.S. SARATOGA AS A MEDICAL ASSISTANT.
AFTER SERVING FOUR YEARS AS A MEDICAL ASSISTANT, HE HAD BECOME INTERESTED IN THE PURSUIT OF A PHARMACUETICAL CAREER. HE RECEIVED HIS ASSOCIATES DEGREE FROM DEL MAR JR. COLLEGE, THEN WENT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON TO CONTINUE HIS EDUCATION. UNFORTUNATELY, BOBBY DEVELOPED AN ILLNESS THAT STAYED WITH HIM FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE, AND, SADLY, CUT SHORT A PROMISING CAREER.
HE WAS CARED FOR BY HIS PARENTS AND SISTER FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS UNTIL HE WAS PLACED IN A NURSING AND REHAB FACILITY. HE WAS WELL LIKED AND LOVED BY THE STAFF MEMBERS AND HIS PEERS.
BOBBY IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY PARENTS DAVID Z. AND VIVIANA RIVERA, AND BROTHER-IN-LAW JOHN L. GRANT. HE IS SURVIVED BY SISTER ADELINA (NINA) GRANT, BROTHER DAVID (DICKIE) RIVERA AND WIFE SANDRA.
ALSO, NIECE LAURA RIVERA AND NEPHEWS CARLOS AND RENE RIVERA.
AND GREAT NEPHEWS AND GREAT NIECES AS WELL AS ONE GREAT-GREAT NEPHEW. HE ALSO HAD MANY COUSINS IN CORPUS CHRISTI, HOUSTON, SAN ANTONIO, AND CALIFORNIA. THERE WILL BE NO SERVICES AT THIS TIME.
