Robert Austin

Robert William Austin ("Bob"), dearly loved by family and friends, died peacefully December 31, 2018. He was 91. Born in Adel, Georgia on November 15, 1927 to Dr. and Mrs. Floyd Austin.
He was preceded in death by his younger sister Mary.
He is survived by his wife Diane, their children John Austin and Dr. Alison Walls & her husband Wayne Thurber, his grandchildren Kevin Elrod and Hailey Austin and their great-granddaughter Aira Teller.

Bob enjoyed 68 years of marriage with Diane, whom he lovingly cared for until his departure. He asked sincerely that others remember him with a smile, "We've had a GREAT life! We've been very fortunate." Bob loved his career in the travel business. He enjoyed working for Pan American Airways for decades, which enabled their love of travel together. Bob and Diane retired in their beloved Rockport and volunteered for 20 years with Good Samaritan, committed to serving those in need. He also helped organize the Rockport Clean Team.

Bob had a passion for fishing his entire life and loved his Rockport lifestyle. In lieu of flowers, Bob would have preferred donations to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or Good Samaritan in Rockport.

A Celebration of Life conducted by Father James W. Friedel will be held at 11:00a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
