Robert Louis Adams died unexpectantly on June 16, 2018 doing what he loved, piloting ships. As an Aransas/Corpus Christi Harbor Pilot since 1989, Louis's naturally exceptional ability in his craft quickly earned him the respect of his peers and the honor of being named Presiding Officer on two separate occasions. A true lover of the water, he lived his life seeking adventure whether boating through the Gulf Coast waters on his boat KALA, fishing in the waters of Copano Bay, or floating down the Frio River. Louis always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips, sometimes inappropriate jokes. A Houston Texan fan to the core, Louis enjoyed a rich social life as a member of the Brotherhood of the Coast, founding member of the Aransas Pass Yacht Club, and dedicated member of the Taylor Swift fan club.
He and his wife Karen Elaine Womack Adams of La Porte, Texas recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary with family and friends in Concan, Texas. As high school sweethearts, they were best friends and enjoyed a wonderful life full of adventures. Concan was the location of many shenanigans such as drive by water gun shootings in his Jeep Sangria, blaring the Dixie Horn up and down River Road, and even the infamous potato gun shootings off the back porch of his house, Wildflower. (Sorry Big Red!) However, many people did not know that Karen had some competition for Louis's affection, there was another woman in Louis's life, Minnie Mouse. Karen and Louis are both true lovers of Disneyworld and Louis was able to see his beloved Minnie many times during his 64 years.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents Robert Eugene Adams and Anna Mae McKie Adams.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Elaine Womack Adams, son Robert Andrew Adams and wife Amanda of The Woodlands, daughter Lisa Adams Spivey and husband Gregory of Corpus Christi, Tx, and his four grandchildren and sister, Deborah Adams Winegar of League City, Texas.
