Ricardo “Gordo” Solis Sr. was called to the good Lord Thursday, January 28, 2021. He was born in Mission, Texas to Fidel and Leonor Solis on November 1, 1947.
Gordo is proceeded in death by his mother, Leonor, father, Fidel, sister, Norma, and grandson Edward (Eddy) Hinojosa III.
He is survived by his loving wife of a long time Nancy, daughters Penny (Lusk) Stafanski (Jim) of Michigan, Cheryl (Lusk) Pollard of Aransas: and son, Ricardo Jr. (Yesenia) of Rockport. His grandchildren Ricardo III, Ryan, Roman, Rocky, Brent, Sarah, Nikki, Alyssa, and many great-grandchildren.
Anyone who knew Gordo knows that he was a kind, gentle, always helpful, soul. No matter what anyone needed he was always willing to help or give you the shirt off his back. With the love of his wife and family, he also loved to watch Wrestling, old cowboy movies, and fast cars. He loved to live life to the fullest whether it be just taking a drive down the beach, making a trip to Walmart, sitting at the shop and telling everyone what to do, or watching his grandkids baseball game Gordo’s presence was always known. He couldn’t go anywhere where there wasn’t someone who stopped to say hi. There was no missing him when he wanted your attention by yelling “Hey!” or as his kids and family would know by his whistle. If you couldn’t hear this whistle, you were too far.
The world lost one of the brightest stars to join the heavens. He will truly be missed, but like he always said “Don’t be scared.” -Gordo
