Refugio "Rufus" B. Urquidez Jr., 48, passed away peacefully at his home on May 6, 2017 with his family by his side. He was born February 13, 1969 in Alpine, Texas to Refugio Urquidez, Sr. and Celia Urquidez.
Rufus is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Stephanie Urquidez of Portland, Texas; sons, Refugio Christian Urquidez of Ingleside, Texas, Dalton Wilson-Schmidt, and Dylan Wilson both of Portland, Texas; daughters, Kimberly Choda, Kristine Urquidez (Brittany), Ana Choda all of Ingleside, Texas, and Abby Lopez of Portland, Texas; mother, Celia Urquidez of Marfa, Texas; grandmother, Valentina Natividad of Saragosa, TX; brother, Valentin Urquidez, and sisters Isabel Valdez (Gabriel), Rebecca Urquidez (Jaime) and Maria Angela Urquidez (Ignacio) all of Ingleside, Texas. He has 3 grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
Rufus graduated Ingleside High School in 1988 and worked as a chef, which was his passion, for 30 years. He loved his family and loved music. Rufus had a big heart and was willing to help anyone when he could. He will always be remembered for his jokes and his crazy sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10th and Thursday, May 11th from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. A rosary will take place Thursday, May 11th at 7:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 12th at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ingleside, Texas. Interment will follow immediately at San Ignacio Cemetery in Ingleside, Texas.
