It is with heavy hearts and deepest sorrow that we announce Ramon Martinez Villareal of Aransas Pass, Texas passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at age 76.
Ramon was the second of seven children born to Rebecca and Ysidro Villareal, Sr. on May 16, 1948, in Aransas Pass, Texas.
As a young adult, Ramon joined the American Armed Forces where he loyally and faithfully served his country as a firefighter in the Air Force at Chanute Air Force Base (Champaign County, Illinois), Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (Burlington County, New Jersey), and Royal Air Force High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire, England). Airman First Class Villareal was honorably discharged in 1969 and moved back home to start his family with his best friend and love of his life, Rita. Ramon and Rita taught their family that love is not always candy and flowers, but deep respect and friendship. They always showed up for their family together, no matter where they were in their journey, always united in the love for the family they created.
Ramon enjoyed a lifelong career in vocational trades working as an air conditioning and refrigeration technician, a welder, and heavy machinery operator. He took great pride in his work, finding joy in staying busy and doing things well.
Ramon was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, instantly lighting up whenever speaking of them and always ready to brag on their accomplishments and accolades. He treasured his family with his whole heart and was always generous with his time, advice and expertise, affection, and encouragement. Ramon enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, storytelling, cracking jokes, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. In his free time Ramon loved road trips, casinos, and road trips to casinos. Throughout his retirement he could be found visiting the sick or homebound and ultimately attending their funeral ensuring that they had a friend by their side until the end.
Ramon is preceded in death by his parents Ysidro and Rebecca, his brothers Raul and Abelardo, and his sister Julia.
Ramon is survived by his wife Rita. Left with his legacy of southern charm, hospitality, and quick wit are his daughters Christine Peña (Amador), Lisa Martinez, Regina Rodriguez (Rock), Ramona Villarreal, and Daniella Villarreal, his grandchildren LaRisa Rios, Asia Skinner (Austin), Sasha Ramirez, Patricia Martinez, Michael Martinez, Macen Rodriguez, Elliot Rodriguez, Ashton Rodriguez and his great grandchildren Jaxon Gelacio, Aubry Valadez, Mathew Valadez, Daniel Valadez, Jennifer Martinez, and Madelie Martinez.
