Rachel Hershberger, 74, loving wife, mother, devout Catholic, and friend, was called to her eternal resting place on February 21, 2023. She entered this world on March 16, 1948 in Hidalgo, TX. Rachel is preceded in death by her husband, Henry of 48 years, parents, Pedro and Maria Ramirez, brothers Noe, Peter, and sister Irma. Left to cherish Rachel's memory is son Michael, daughter Anna (Andrew), grandchildren James and Jonathan Swannie, brothers Armando, Homer (Maria), additional family, and friends.
As a child and adolescent, Rachel traveled the country with her family as a migrant worker picking apples, sugar cane, and many other crops. She decorated cakes for weddings, baptisms, quinceañeras, birthdays, and other celebrations. In May of 1994, Rachel underwent a kidney transplant, and exceeded all expectations for kidney viability.
Rachel lived her faith and was devout to the Devine Mercy. She prayed and practiced mercy to others as a conduit for God's mercy towards them. She was very active in her church by singing in the choir, and volunteering in the church gift shop. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband Henry, and their dogs in their RV. Together they witnessed and experienced many people and places, and countries, including a visit to the Holy Land.
Visitation will be held Sunday March 5th from 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00pm followed by small reception, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in memory of Rachel on Monday March 6 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea, followed by her interment at the Prairie View Cemetery. Reception for family and friends to follow at the St. Mary Star of the Sea Hall.
