Philo Melville Hatch III, 66, beloved father, brother and grandpa, was called to his eternal resting place on September 5, 2020. He entered this world on June 4, 1954 in Burbank, CA, born to Philo II and Wilsena “Sena” Hatch. Philo met the love of his life, Barbara, in Oklahoma City, OK. The two came to Port Aransas for Spring Break in 1979, fell in love with the town and decided to raise their family here on Ruthie Lane. Philo served on the Port Aransas Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and 12 years as a Fire Captain. He can be best remembered driving his iconic blue 1991 Chevy around town on his way to work at Century or Sea Sands, on his way to fish or one of his many regular stops at Stripes. Philo is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Barbara, and father, Philo Hatch II. He is survived by his two sons, Philo (Brandi) Hatch IV and Christopher (Carrie) Hatch; grandson, Philo Hatch V; siblings, GayLynn (Darren) Jacobs, Elisa Ann (Simon) Bennett and Preston Hatch and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, from 2pm to 4pm. The funeral service will be at Robert's Point Park in Port Aransas on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 10am; followed by a graveside service at the Royal Palms Cemetery in Port Aransas.
