Phillip Clinton Nelson Obituary

Phillip Clinton Nelson, 66 passed away September 10, 2019. He was born October 23, 1952 in Charlottesville, Virginia to Robert Carlton Nelson and Pearl Dimple Lynch Nelson. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force and after six years was given an Honorable Medical Discharge. Phil achieved an E4 Class and was a member of the Honor Guard.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother in law Donn Jennings.
He is survived by his daughters, Charmaine Denise Nelson and Diana Michelle Nelson; sisters, Patricia Nelson Horelick (Allan) Rhonda Nelson Jennings and Mariah Nelson Stittsworth (David). He was also survived by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. Included in Phil's family, not through blood but through love would be the Michael George family. They have protected him from many storms of life and our family has always been grateful for their care over Phil.
Phil was a member of Salt Lake Baptist Church in Rockport.
Funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi with Pastor Jim Huffman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to American Mental Health Foundation 128 2nd Pl, Brooklyn, NY 11231 or American Heart Association 7272 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX 75231 or to The Salt Lake Baptist Church 100 Salt Lake Road , Rockport, TX 78382 Attn: Building Fund.
On behalf of our family, we want to thank everyone in the Rockport area that assisted in the love outreach and care for our brother on a daily/weekly basis. Our special thanks to Mrs. Emily Cessac and Mrs. Opal Greene who were in constant contact and were able to find our deceased brother, to all of the 1st Responders and Sheriff's Department of Aransas County that assisted in this. You guys will remain in our prayers.
We will certainly miss our intellectual, sports and political expert, entertaining and funny brother. We will miss those 2 hour phone conversations reminding us of every funny story from our childhood.
We will meet you at the table brother!!!
