Peggy Holt

Peggy Lynn Holt, 90, of Rockport, TX passed away peacefully on the morning of December 8, 2018, after a short illness. Peggy was born in Schwertner, Texas on July 22, 1928, to Wallace and Leona Wade. She attended primary and secondary school in Schwertner and Bartlett and studied at Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton.

She married the love of her life, Walter "Pete" Holt in 1946. They built a home in Bartlett where they both worked before moving to College Station and then Dallas. Over that time Peggy worked as an accountant and as an insurance adjustor. She and Pete retired in 1996 and moved to Rockport where they lived out their lives. Peggy and Pete loved gardening and bird watching and together built a beautiful yard and garden that attracted many birds and butterflies. She especially loved hummingbirds and their yard attracted hundreds of them to the flowers and feeders in the fall. Peggy assisted with the Rockport Hummer Bird Celebration for many years and was a long-time member of the Aransas Bird and Nature Club in Rockport.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Leona Wade, her husband Pete, and her brothers Wallace Allen and Donald Wade.

She is survived by her sons Scott Holt and wife Joan of Port Aransas, Randall Holt of Rockport, and her dear friend Bill Schleed of Salado.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11th at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home located at 2003 W. Wheeler in Aransas Pass, TX and a graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 13th at the Bartlett, TX cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations in her name can be made to Aransas Bird and Nature Club, P.O Box 308, Fulton Texas 78358.
