Peggy Phillips Bringle, surrounded by her family, left her earthly home on December 29, 2022. Peggy was born on March 21, 1937 in Turrell, Arkansas. After attending Arkansas State Teachers College Peggy moved to Memphis, where she met and married Walter Bringle. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Kansas City, where they raised their family.
Peggy furthered her education at the University of Kansas, graduating with a degree in English and History. Her career teaching English at the high school and junior high school level began in Shawnee Mission Kansas, and ended at Rockport/Fulton High School, where she developed the school’s first advanced placement English class.
Peggy was a natural athlete who played both tennis and golf, and her many trophies reflect her competitive spirit. She was an avid reader and instilled in her children a similar love of books. With her warm smile and sense of humor, Peggy was always one to make and keep many close friends.
Above all, she was fiercely devoted to her family. Peggy and Walter were married for 60 years, during which there was much fun and laughter.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Walter Bringle; her father Carlton Phillips; her mother Mildred Mayberry Phillips; her brother Carlton Phillips; her sister Ann Baxter; and her son-in-law Bill Pugh.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Philip Bringle and his wife Lisa Paulson; her daughter Mary Catherine Pugh; her beloved grandson Cameron Bringle; her sister Pat Morgan; her sister-in-law Beverly Bringle; and her nieces and nephews and extended family.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 1807, Rockport, TX 78381.
