Patricia Brookes

September 24, 1942 — July 30, 2018

Patricia Ann Koenig Brookes, 75 was called to home to heaven on July 30, 2018. She was born September 24, 1942 in Martindale, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel Koenig and Eleanora Mann; husband, Daniel R. Brookes; son, Ricky Carraway Brookes; mother-in-law, Deloris Brookes; siblings, Emma, Emelia, Gabriel John "Uncle Jr.", Eleanora, Robert, Ethel, Frankie, Mary, John Henry and Joanie Koenig.
One word we can use to describe our Mother is "giving". If you went to her home, you would never leave empty handed. Every year Mom would bake pumpkin and banana bread for Thanksgiving and Christmas and she would give out to everyone she knew. She knew no stranger. She would be the best of friends with a person she had just met at the market. She was a second mother to many of our friends.
She was a hard worker and taught her children to do the same. She had a green thumb and was the envy of all who saw her yard.
Her favorite saying was "I am too blessed to be stressed" and "I love you lots and lots of polka dots." She loved children especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved animals especially her chihuahuas. She loved giving foster care to the animals for the SPCA.
Our Mother taught us never to make fun of others, for if we did our children would become that way. She taught us that everyone is special no matter your status in life. She was a caregiver for her great love, our father, Danny and our adventurous Nana Dee until they passed. She was one always up for a road trip, or anything to do with fun.
Fishing and crabbing all day, coming home cooking it all to have a feast with friends and family was a perfect day in her book.
She loved to sing, throughout her brave fight with Alzheimer's, all were amazed at her ability to remember the words to every song. She sang gospel songs with her brothers and sisters in local churches. She loved gospel songs, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash.
She was a woman with a zest for life, she lived life to the fullest.
If you knew our mother, count yourself among the blessed to witness the hands and feet of Jesus. We want all to know her deepest wish was for all to be saved and know the love of our heavenly father, and to ask Jesus in to their hearts and believe in Him.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelly Ybarra (Robert) of Aransas Pass, TX, Tina Marie Laberdie (Mike) of Robbinsdale, MN and Danielle Renee LeRoy (Shaun) of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Danielle Rose Ackerman-Rarick (Aaron), Amber Ann Ybarra, Andrew Ryan Ybarra, Emma Ray Laberdie and Benjamin James Laberdie, Beliah Renee LeRoy; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Janae Ybarra, Xavier Jayvin Adriel Lopez, Tyezhon Zarrien Avante Harris, Alana Mae Ackerman-Rarick, Arielle Kaleia Ackerman-Rarick and a great number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.
