Pablo (Paul) Martinez went to be with his angels in heaven on February 3, 2017. Mr. Martinez was born September 24, 1932 to Norberto and Martina Martinez in Runge, Texas. He lived the majority of his life in Austwell, Texas and his later years in Refugio, Texas. Mr. Martinez was a retiree of Union Carbide Seadrift Plant; was a long time member of the Austwell Tivoli School Board, and was a Charter Member of the Austwell Tivoli Lions Club. He also served as Mayor of the City of Austwell for many years.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Norberto and Martina Martinez; sister, Julia Bernal; and his brother, Richard Martinez; his wife and mother to his children, Benita Martinez; son, Joe P. Martinez.
Paul is survived by his second wife, Mary Martinez, a resident of Mission Ridge, Refugio, Texas; son, Edward Dale Martinez (Ofelia) of Aransas Pass, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Barsch (Robert) of San Antonio, Texas, and Veronica Martinez of Ingleside, Texas; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Martinez (Chris), and Edward Dale Martinez II; and one great- grandchild, Isaac Noah.
On Monday, February 6, 2017 visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm by members of Pauls' family. Funeral Mass will be conducted at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Tivoli, Texas at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 Father James Vasquez will conduct the Funeral Mass. Burial will follow at the Austwell Cemetery.
Pall Bearers will be his nephews, Tommy Lee, Scott, Tony, and Sam Bernal; and great-nephews, Gerad, and Tyler Lenhart, and Kelly Bernal. Honorary Pall Bears will be Edward Martinez II, and Chris Cortez.
The family would like to extend their thanks to New Century Hospice and Jesse Trevino for all of their support.
His smile and presences will be missed as well as his "Fantastic" approach to life.
