Nancy Cook, age 79, passed away in the care of Harbor Hospice at the Gulf Pointe Plaza on Monday, June 17, 2019
Nancy was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Elva Somerville
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Chris, her first husband Carl Henninger, and the love of her life, her second husband Charles E. Cook in 2014.
Nancy is survived by her stepson Charles M. Cook, his wife Phaedra, their children Brandon, Diana, and Nick, her niece Jan Hatfield, several other nieces and nephews, her special dog Sweetie, and many good friends.
Nancy grew up in Fairview Park near Cleveland and graduated from Fairview High School. She graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1961 after majoring in Languages, including Spanish, French, and Latin.
Nancy moved to Bemidji, Minnesota with her first husband to run a tourist camp. She spent the rest of her life in the tourism industry in Bemidji and St. Paul managing convention services and chambers of commerce. She and Charlie retired to Rockport, Texas, where they both continued to work for many years.
Nancy was an enthusiastic sportswoman who enjoyed competitive target shooting, hunting, fishing, crewing for sailing races, rock collecting, and especially golf. She liked to pack up Charlie and the dogs and go traveling, especially in an RV. She was an accomplished organist and liked to entertain Charlie and herself with pop songs from their youth.
Along with being the “Mayor” of the Fulton Oaks RV Park, Nancy had been active in the Lamar Woman’s Club and the American Legion Auxiliary in Rockport.
Nancy has been entrusted to the care of the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home for cremation and will be joining her husband in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
There will be a memorial celebration of Nancy’s Life in the fall at the Fulton Oaks RV Park.
