Mildred Inez Wright Gilden
Mildred Inez Wright Gilden was born September 26, 1924, in Poplar Branch, North Carolina to Daniel and Mildred Wright. She passed away on June 11, 2021, at home with her family.
Inez was involved in sports and many clubs in Griggs High School. She played basketball, she was Senior Editor of the annual and was voted most popular. Her quote in the Senior yearbook was “To be polite is to do and say the kindest things in the kindest way.” A quote she lived by as she treated everyone with kindness.
On July 1, 1943, she married Eddie Gilden. They were blessed with three children. Inez and Eddie were involved in the shrimping industry, owned a hush puppy factory, and have owned Aransas Marine Ways for nearly sixty years. Inez was the secretary and bookkeeper for all their businesses. She kept the house, cooked all the meals, made the children Halloween costumes, taught Sunday School, was a member of the band boosters and the Lioness Club. When her children were growing up, their friends were always welcome. Mrs. Gilden’s kitchen was always open with plenty of good food for everyone. Inez was a hard-working woman and went to work every day at the shipyard until the pandemic of 2020 hit.
Inez was predeceased by her parents Daniel and Mildred Wright, Jr. infant brother Ralph Wright, brother Sidney Wright, Sr. and his wife Inez Gilden, Niece Diane Hamilton, husband Eddie Gilden, Sr., her son, Wayne Gilden, her grandson Shaun Hagy and Jerry Warnick, Jr.
She is survived by her son Eddie Gilden, Jr. (Patty), daughter Patricia Hagy (Dee), daughter-in-law Starr Gilden; Grandchildren, Lori Dawn Gilden, Jason Gilden (Stephanie), Dallas Gilden (Katrina), Candice Kersey (Ralph), Jennifer Terrill (Justin), Kristi Jones, Robert Nichols (Jessica), Matthew Nichols (Kaitlin), Brian Nichols (Alyssa); Great-Grandchildren, Julian Gilden (Cassie), Jayda Gilden (Erick), Parris Gilden (Rawlyn), Brooklynn Gilden, Berlynn Warnick, Jerry Warnick III, Paige Gilden, Lanie Gilden, Griffin Gilden, Laura Kersey, Lance Kersey, Nolan Hargrove, Tristen Hargrove, Camryn Morales, Reed Morales, Marie Davila, Karleigh Neill; Great-Great Grandchildren: Pierce Terrill, Camilla Gilden, Eliana Gilden, Hayden Adair, Summer Nichols, Bryce Nichols, Sterling Nichols, Levi Nichols, Brian Nichols, Barrett Nichols, Carson Nichols, Kaylee Nichols, Camilla Nichols, Victoria Caudillo, Rozlynn Caudillo, Nadine Canales, Richard Canales, Gabriel Lopez, a special niece, Bev Brown, nephews Steve Wright and Brian Wright of North Carolina.
Inez had a large family and everyone in her family was special to her and loved so much, just as she was special to everyone in the family and loved so much. She will be dearly missed. Inez was kind, generous, and a truly good person who would do anything for you. Charlie Marshall used to say “Inez, if you go before me, I’m going to grab your ankles and go with you, because I know where you’re going.”
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jason Gilden, Dallas Gilden, Julian Gilden, Parris Gilden, Justin Terrill, Ralph Kersey, and Aaron Rathbone.
