Mike Rios Morin passed away on July 19, 2024, at the age of 79, in Portland, Texas. Born on July 6, 1945, in Taft, Texas, he dedicated over two decades of his life to serving his country in the military. Mike first joined the United States Air Force and served 4 years, followed by 19 years in the United States Navy as a Seabee, where he exhibited unparalleled dedication and valor. After his honorable military career, Mike worked as a carpenter at Hines Services for 34 years, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He was a proud graduate of Taft High School and remained active in his community throughout his life. Mike was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and participated in the Knights of Columbus. His love for his faith was evident in his commitment to the church and its community activities. An avid outdoorsman, Mike enjoyed working on his yard and was frequently found staying active.

Mike was a family man, survived by his wife of 57 years, Mattie Lee, and their children: Mike Jr. (Lisa), Melvin, Monica (Brian), and Mark. He was a cherished grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren along with numerous extended family members and friends.

 Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Cristina (Rios) and Zeferino Morin, and his sisters, Angelmira Henderson and Nori Morin Serna.

Pallbearers are grandsons Austin Morin, Mike Morin III, Matthew Morin, Randy Morin, Zachary Morin, and Mark Morin Jr. Honorary pallbearer is great-grandson, Milo Morin.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Charlie Marshall Funeral Home and Crematory in Aransas Pass, TX. A viewing from 3:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home. Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Taft, TX on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM, followed by burial with full military honors at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

Mike will be remembered for his unwavering support of his family, his service to his country, and his devout faith. His legacy of love and dedication will live on through his family and all those he touched.
