Michael Andrew “Mike” Pfliiger, 60 lost his battle with stage 4 colon cancer and passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 11, 2021. He was born of German descent May 20, 1960 in Ventura, California to Robert and Marlene Pfliiger and was raised in Reno, Nevada until 2011. He was honored to serve in the US Navy on the USS Enterprise and the USS Peleliu from 1980 until 1984 and in the Reserves for two more years. Mike was a resident of Rockport, Texas until he passed. He was an employee at Walmart for ten years as a support manager where he made many special friends and connected with new family members over those 10 years that he lived in Texas. Mike loved walks with his cat and dogs and visiting with friends at Rockport Beach, playing basketball, building WWII models, watching sports, his love of history and anything outdoors. He enjoyed camping even in the end when he was weak. Mike took pride in building cabinets and working with his hands. He also looked forward to traveling to see the grandchildren and family, but his ultimate favorite was dinners with his wife who he loved so very much, as he said often. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kenneth Pfliiger and Marlene Frieda Olson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jo Ann Malan Pfliiger; his children, Michael Malan Hobbs of Cedar City, Utah, Vaughn Malan Nottingham of Corpus Christi, Texas, Tawnee House-Gustin of Reno, Nevada; sister, Charlene Boegle of Reno, Nevada; 10 grandchildren; one great granddaughter and a host of loving extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-2:00pm followed by a Funeral Service with Military Honors on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Aransas Pass.
