Michael Hill

May 5, 1941 — May 2, 2023

Rockport

Michael Augustus Hill, 81, of Rockport, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

He was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on May 5, 1941. He married Judy Hill in 1967 and spent 25 years in the Army. After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, he became a math teacher in Rockport, Texas, and taught school for another 10 years. Serving in the Army provided him opportunities to take his family to military bases in the States and oversee like Germany, Korea, Japan, the Philippians, and many more. This provided opportunities to learn about new cultures and build a lifetime of great memories for his family. In his service, he earned numerous recognitions and medals. He was awarded the Bronze Star, for distinguished meritorious service in a combat zone and a Purple Heart for his injuries during his service in Vietnam.

Mike loved serving God and instilled this in his family. He cherished his grandkids and loved being in Rockport where his family gathered and built memories. He was a strong and kind man that all his children and grandchildren could count on for support and encouragement.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 40 years, Judy Hill; sister, Ruth Ann Green; brother, Kenneth Hill.

He is survived by his four children, and their spouses, Brian, Tricia, Corey, and Chris. He left behind eight beautiful grandchildren that meant the world to him and loved them with all his heart. They will always know how to fish, and the importance of family while cherishing his quiet but strong encouragement.
