Melvin E. Hammond

Born in Lynchburg Virginia, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952, following in his fathers’ footsteps. As a BT (Boiler Tech) he rose quickly through the ranks and retired in 1973 as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He continued to work with boilers till his second retirement in 1993.

He leaves behind a lot of broken hearts. His strength and dependability left no one in his care forgotten. I his wife will forever wish I could have found him sooner so I could have loved him longer.
