May Mundine

November 30, 1926 — May 14, 2018

Mae (May) Jean Mundine of Rockport, TX, passed away May 14, 2018 in Pleasanton, Texas, where she had resided after Hurricane Harvey. May Jean was the second of eight children born to the late Alonzo Bruce Evans and Annie Mae Seaton Evans. She was born on November 30, 1926 in Woodsboro, Texas, the second of eight children born to Bruce and Annie Mae Evans. Her family moved to Rockport when she was quite young.
Her overriding philosophy was to go to bed each day feeling that she had accomplished something. May Jean Mundine worked many years as a teller at the First National Bank in Rockport beginning when it was in the downtown area. In the fifteen years prior to her retirement many Winter Texans and Rockport residents remember her as the hostess and cashier at Charlotte Plummer's Restaurant. She looked forward to Spring when she would find new flowers to grow and enjoy. May Jean pursued two special hobbies in her retirement - quilting and counted cross-stitch. Her creations adorn many homes across Texas. She took great joy in the fact that the famous Texas wildlife artist, David Drinkard, had one of her counted cross stitch creations. May Jean also enjoyed her trips to play the slot machines above all else. She would come home a winner much more often than anyone else.
May Jean was preceded in death by her husband Glen Mundine, son Jackie Lee (Barbara Cameron), sisters, Corrine Webb and Virginia (Ginger) Tanner, and her brothers, Clifton, Alton, David, and Gerald Evans. She is survived by her younger sister, Darlene Varner (Hughes) of Fulton, Texas. She is survived by her sons, Robert Hester (Fredia) of Rockport, Texas and Harold Mundine of Sinton, Texas, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
