Dianne Niemann passed away peacefully in her home in Port Aransas, Tx on Saturday morning October 28, 2023. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on September 6, 1945. Granddaughter of JP Elder , Daughter of Homer Newton Elder and Geneva Janes Elder. The family moved to Maryland to run a meatpacking plant. She grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and graduated from Howard County High School. She enjoyed cheer leading, golf and lacrosse. She loved to dance and was a frequent dancer on the show "American Bandstand" with Dick Clark. She married Eugene and had one daughter, Mickey Lynn Austin. She moved back to Fort Worth, Texas in 1967 and pursued a career in cosmetology. She later married Phil Shackelford and had a son, PJ Shackelford. They bought a house on Granbury lake and enjoyed the weekends fishing, skiing and hosting friends and family. Phil passed away in 2006. She moved to Port Aransas, Texas and opened PJ's Bait Bucket Marina and RV park. Dianne loved the Texas coast. She wanted Port A to stay a small town and true to its fishing roots. She made many true friends and met Captain Alan Niemann. They soon married. She loved to cook meals on offshore fishing trips, cut hair, beach comb and walk her wiener dogs. She also worked at Dolphin Docks where she met life long friends, She was always good for a laugh. Alan worked hard and she played hard. They enjoyed crabbing, fishing, shuffle boarding, music, friends and family. They were a destination beach house for all who wanted to visit. They taught the grand kids, Phillip, Phisher and William, the coastal way of living. Dianne was preceded in death by Phil Shackelford, brother, Homer John Elder of Maryland, and wiener dogs Lucy and Abby.
Dianne leaves behind her loving husband, Captain Alan Niemann of Port A, Tx. Daughter Dr. Mickey Hooper and husband Jeff of Fort Worth, Son PJ Shackelford and wife Mellissa of Port Aransas, Grandchildren Phillip, Phisher, and Katie, and Great Grandson William and lots of cousins and an Island full of friends. She is enjoying perfect health in heaven with her Savior, Jesus. Her cremated remains will be scattered into the coastal waters of Port Aransas.
