In Loving Memory of Jay "Josie" Esquivel
With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to a remarkable individual, Mary J. Esquivel, who was called to her eternal resting place on May 17, 2024, at the age of 71. Jay "Josie" was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 1, 1952, to Theodore Esquivel and Estella Longoria Esquivel. Her short-term battle with brain cancer demonstrated her courage in facing life challenges with a smile, and despite the illness, Jay "Josie" stayed strong until the end.
A devoted Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Jay "Josie" was welcomed into heaven by her Father, Theodore Esquivel, Mother Estella Esquivel, Sister Mary Lou Torres, Brothers Florentino "Tino" and Alfredo "Fred" Esquivel.
She is survived by her loving and devoted lifetime partner Christina Garza, and daughter Angalique Garza who stood by her side throughout her life's journey and battle with brain cancer, her Sisters Maria Amalia Rios, Joann Medina (John), Lenor Martinez and Brothers Theodore "Ted" (Julia), Mario (Vicky), Horace (Mari) and Eddie Esquivel (Stephanie) will always hold dear their memories and shared laughter's, numerous Nephews, Nieces, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and close Friends was the cornerstone of her life, as she nurtured each relationship with love, attention and compassion.
Jay "Josie" cherished her faith in God and relationships deeply. To remember Jay "Josie" is to recall a life lived with a purpose and filled with passion. Jays "Josie" love for her Family was paramount, her spirit of putting up displays for the holidays was remarkable, she applied herself with great joy knowing Nephews and Nieces would have special memories that would last a lifetime, as she offered a gift shared generously with all who were a part of her journey. Jays "Josie" legacy is one of love, laughter, and simple joys of life; she enjoyed spending time outdoors with her dogs, barbecuing for friends and family, playing music, and found solace in fishing. As a devoted partner and parent, Jay's unwavering love and support touched countless lives. She cherished family above all else, especially during the holidays, where her home became a haven for laughter, joy and cherished memories. Ever generous, Jay exemplified the true spirit of community and compassion, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will forever inspire us.
Jay's absence will be deeply felt by those who were fortunate enough to know her, but the imprint she left on their hearts will endure forever. Her spirit will forever remain in the stories she shared, the lives she touched, and the memories we hold dear. May she find eternal peace.
A visitation will be held on May 27,2024, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with service beginning 2pm at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas following a private celebration of life to be determined at a later date.
