Marjorie Collins Blackard, 88 went home to be with her Lord on April 17, 2022. She was born July 12, 1933 in Nixon, Texas to Elbert B. Collins and Ila Beatrice Caraway Collins. She was a 1950 graduate of Nixon High School then went on to Draughons Business School in San Antonio. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Corpus Christi and her Master of Science Degree from Texas A&I Kingsville. She married Frederick L. Blackard at First Baptist Church of Port Aransas in 1957. Marjorie was a Port Aransas ISD public school teacher for 39 years and received Teacher of the Year in 1983. She was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce in 1998. Marjorie was a resident of Port Aransas for 46 years then moved to Rockport in 2001 where she was an active member of the Coastal Oaks Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband “Blackie” and sister, Bobbie Montgomery.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Stormy Blackard of Rockport; grandchildren, Amber Nicole Lopez (Travis) of Aransas Pass, Lindsey Landeros (Daniel) of San Antonio; great grandchildren, Sydnie, Travis and Lillie Lopez, Braiden, Nikolai and Zachairah Landeros; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends in Christ.
Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. Monday, April 25, 2022 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Aransas Pass. A graveside service will begin at 2:00p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Nixon Cemetery in Nixon, Texas with Donnie D’Herde officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by donations to a charity of your choice.
