Marcellette Lucille Gilley went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2018 at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Marcie was born on Christmas Eve 1941 to Cleo and Martha Petersen in Fort Worth, Texas. She spent her childhood in North Texas, where she met the love of her life, Ken. They married in April of 1958, and for the next 60 years they built a life together. Their determination and integrity helped them build a farming, ranching, and trucking business, which they operated for two decades in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. They traveled all across the United States as a young married couple, growing their business and taking time to enjoy all that America had to offer.

During the 1980s, Marcie worked for Lewisville High School in Lewisville, Texas in the attendance office. There, she touched the lives of countless students by always being willing to listen to their challenges and encouraging them to overcome them.

In 1993, Marcie and Ken moved to Port Aransas, Texas, where Marcie retired from the Aransas Pass I.S.D. Marcie and Ken also spent 14 years as managers of the Port Aransas Private Marina, where they worked hard to ensure that the property owners and their guests enjoyed their time to the fullest.

In recent years, Marcie and Ken purchased a motorhome and traveled extensively throughout Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, and the Deep South, making many friends along the way. Among Marcie's favorite travel memories were trips she and Ken took with their son and his family in their RVs to Big Bend National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

Marcie is survived by her beloved husband, Ken, her son, Matt, her wonderful daughter-in-law, Heather, three grandchildren, and numerous friends.

The family is planning a private service.
