It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Juan Manuel Landa of Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 79. He passed away June 9, 2023. He was born in Durango, Mexico on December 19, 1943. Manuel was married to the late Genoveva F. Landa on June 10, 1968.
Manuel Landa was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served 16 years in the United States Army Reserves. He retired from HEB working in Produce. Our father was a hard working man that always provided and we never did without.
Manuel was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Manuel was a firm believer in faith and prayer. If you didn't have faith and you didn't pray, he felt one would be lost. You can't have one without the other. Manuel had this amazing passion for music. If anyone knew Manuel well, you knew how much he truly loved music. He would always say that music would take him back to the good ol' days. His favorite band was the PLATTERS and he was very much into Oldies but Goodies. Manuel Landa was a loving husband, a caring dad and fantastic grandfather that would do anything to keep his grandchildren happy. He really enjoyed spending time with them. He was a very determined man that knew no obstacles when it came to family. Manuel was a very passionate man when it came to helping others as well. He was a very thick skinned man and tough as nails. As many hits life would throw at him, he would bite the bullet and keep trucking. He always got back up and as much as everyone said get a cane or a blind stick, he always replied, "NEVER. I don't need one." Manuel Landa leaves behind very cherishable memories.
He is preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Guadalupe Landa, his loving wife of 52 years, Genoveva F. Landa, his sisters Adelita Landa, Elvira Landa-Ulrich and finally his grandson Daniel Andres Rodriguez.
Manuel leaves behind his 5 children to cherish his memory. They are, Lorraine Landa-Ramirez, LIza Marie Cuya (Oliver Cuya), Loura Marie Quintero (Gilberto Quintero), Lucinda Marie Rodriguez (Daniel Rodriguez) , Juan Manuel Landa, II (Rosemarie Landa).
His 10 grandchildren: Javier Rene Ramirez, Jr., Lisette Ramirez, Jose Angel Ramirez, Miranda Renee Soliz, Marissa Renee Soliz-Salazar(Robert Salazar, Jr.), John Matthew Ramirez, Gilberto Quintero, IV, Joshua Daniel Rodriguez, Juan Manuel Landa, III, and Micheal Ryan Landa.
And finally his 5 siblings: Margarita Casas (Ramiro Casas), Maria Carmen Landa, Carlos P. Landa (Leonar Landa), David J. Landa (Lisa Landa), and Rudy Landa (Irene Landa).
