Louis Emil Havelka, Jr., affectionately known as “Rusty” was called home to his Lord and Savior on November 24, 2024. He was born in McAllen, Texas on November 15, 1963 to Louis and Betty Havelka. He was the third of four children.
He attended Sharyland schools in Mission where he played basketball and football. He graduated in 1982 and attended Texas A&M University 1982-83. He met the love of his life, Cynthia “Cindy” Noon while they were Sophomores in high school. They married on May 31, 1985 and had two children together - Louis Emil III “Trey”, and Caityln Ann.
From a young age, Rusty learned the art of carpentry and construction from his father, a skill that became a hallmark of his professional life. He dedicated his early career to residential and commercial construction. Later in his career, he became the Ranch Manager of the WILAT Ranch in Aransas Pass and continued his craftmanship building a barndominium, numerous cattle and horse pastures, deer and duck blinds, stock tanks and roadways on the property - transforming the ranch into a cherished family legacy.
Rusty’s passions extended past construction; he was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a particular zeal for barbeque. As a lifetime member of the IBCA (International Barbeque Cookers Association), he participated in dozens of competitions across Texas, often with his greatest supporter, Cindy, their children and grandchildren, and siblings. These events were not merely contests for Rusty - they were cherished gatherings where he created lasting memories and forged meaningful friendships.
He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mission and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport.
Rusty was a vibrant soul with an infectious laugh and true appreciation for life that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Rusty cherished his family and friends. His wife, Cindy, was his best friend and their love was profound, unwavering, and inspiring. He will be remembered not only for his remarkable spirit but also for the love he shared with those around him.
Rusty is survived by his wife, Cynthia Havelka; his son, Louis Emil Havelka III “Trey”; his daughter, Caitlyn Ann Havelka; and his grandchildren, Abigail, Logan, Grace, Emma, Kelly, Matthew, and Parker. He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Havelka and Brenda Durand (Daniel). He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Betty Havelka and brother Ronald Havelka.
