Leopoldo Cruz

Leopoldo Cruz, 88, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Portland, TX. Mr. Cruz was born on April 21, 1930 in Taft, TX. He was a lifelong resident of Rockport, TX, where he worked on boats as a supervisor at the Rockport ship yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lazaro Cruz and Refugia Salazar Cruz; six brothers, Lazaro Cruz Jr., Manuel Cruz, Guscente Cruz, Inocencio Cruz, Agapito Cruz and Alpeto Cruz; four sisters, Carolina Cruz, Rosalie Cruz, Alicia Cruz and Anita Cruz; one great-granddaughter, Kaylen McBroom.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Anita Sanchez Cruz; six children which include, his three sons, Leopoldo (Nivea) Cruz Jr., Leonardo (Stefanie) Cruz, Gary (Miranda) Cruz; three daughters, Anita Cruz, Nancy Vanderberry (Michael Saga), Crystal (Christopher) Peña; twenty-three grandchildren, Aerial Everett, Samantha Cruz, Bridget Cruz, Michael Cruz, Joshua Cruz, Keanu Cruz, Leonardo Cruz Jr., Melyn Cruz, Steven Schwering, Scott Schwering, Marlena Felstead, Trey Felstead, Robert Vanderberry, Jesse Vanderberry, Heather Bishop, Abel Longoria Jr., Amanda Longoria, Allen Christopher Longoria, Anton Longoria, Javier Galvan, Anthony Peña, Desiree Peña, Angel Peña and 27 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2018 with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport, TX. Mass will be celebrated by Father Raynaldo Yrlas, Jr.
Christian Burial will follow at Fulton Cemetery in Fulton, TX.
