Leonard Gerdes, Jr.

Leonard Ben "L.B." Gerdes, Jr., 91 passed away January 7, 2017. He was born October 20, 1925 in Portland, Texas to Leonard Ben Gerdes, Sr. and Maurene L. Rankin Gerdes. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a professional photographer and owner of Gerdes Photographer in Victoria for 41 years. He was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Alice Ann Gerdes. Survivors include his children, Ginger Clement (Jay) of Rockport, Gary Gerdes (Marsha) of Rosenberg, Galen Gerdes (Kathy) of Goliad; brother, Tommy Childers; grandchildren, Alexis and Christopher Clement, Ryan (Tracey), Matthew (Jennifer), Kevin (Melanie), Paul, Mark (Ally), Chris (Krishna) Gerdes; great grandchildren, Christian, Mackenzie, Mason, Austin and Sophie.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m. with Rosary recited at 10:00a.m. Mass officiated by Father Ray Yrlas, Jr. will begin at 10:30a.m. all at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport. Entombment will follow at 2:00p.m. at Resurrection Mausoleum in Victoria. Memorials may be made to OLV Catholic School 1311 E. Mesquite Ln. Victoria, TX 77901.
