Laura Ann Simank passed away February 19, 2020. She was born on January 20, 1944 in Houston, Texas to Edwin and Higter Ross. She was 76 years old.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents

Left to cherish Laura's memories are her daughter, Susan Cobern; granddaughter, Heidi Cobern(Joseph Glaze) of Aransas Pass, TX.; grandson, Joshua Cobern(Janetzy) of Okinawa, Japan; an honorary grandson , Leo Pena of Aransas Pass, TX; and a great-granddaughter making her appearance in June.

Laura and her family moved to Ingleside in 1978 and then to Aransas Pass in 1984 where she resided ever since. She became very active in many organizations including the Aransas Pass Rotary Club, Aransas Pass Order of the Eastern Star, Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce, Aransas Pass Woman’s Club, and Tri-County Crime Stoppers. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She served on the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a Past President. She is also a past p resident of the San Patricio County Economic Development Commission, the San Pat Action Agency, was a member and Secretary for the Aransas Pass Planning and Zoning Commission and served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army. Laura also was a member of the Texas School Public Relations Association and National School Public Relations Association. She was a true community supporter in every way.

Laura Simank worked as a Reporter and Editor at the Aransas Pass Progress and Ingleside Index papers for many years. She was also a radio personality for KLUX 89.5. Following the AP Progress Newspaper, she went to work as the Community Relations Director for the Aransas Pass School District and later the Aransas Pass Housing Authority retiring fully in 2013.

Laura was a loving mother, grandmother and a true friend. She loved to help the community, her friends and those in need and was always ready to tell you a funny story and loved to laugh. Her favorite hobbies were woodworking and being a Ham Radio Operator. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Providence Place (formerly the Methodist Mission Home) 6487 Whitby Road, San Antonio, TX.

Memorial Service will be Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Ingleside First United Methodist Church
