Kenneth Wayne Matlock of Rockport passed away with his beloved wife by his side on Wednesday April 5, 2023 at the age of 62.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 38 years, Sheryl Matlock, his two sons, Kenneth (Hannah) Matlock Jr and Stewart Matlock; grandchildren Miller Matlock and Olivia Matlock; brother Thomas L. “TL” (Tammy) Matlock Jr.; sisters Donna (Keith) Luttrell and Linda (Andy) Knapp, mother Linda Hribar; and Donna “Nanny” Matlock; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving father, Thomas Matlock.
Kenneth was born June 20, 1960, in Tifton, Georgia. At an early age Kenny moved to Rockport, Texas where he began a career in the oil field that spanned nearly 40 years. Kenny married his true love, Sheryl Ann Wells in 1985, and the two made their home in Rockport where they welcomed their two sons, Kenny Jr. and Stewart over the next few years. Kenny’s greatest passion in life was hunting and fishing. He shared this passion with his two sons during his life, and took pride in making sure he passed down his vast knowledge of life skills and water safety to his boys. He felt most happy at home with his puppies, Gemma and Pink, with his family around a campfire at the deer lease, or out on the water. After retiring from a life of service in the oil field, Kenny was able to retire to work full time at his and Sheryl’s store – The Busted Pot. Kenny’s passion for his hobbies and work at the store was only topped by the love and pride he had for his greatest achievement in life – his family. Family was everything to Kenny, and the love he had for his family only grew when they welcomed their grandchildren – Miller and Olivia. Kenny took delight in entertaining his grandbabies by baking them Paw Paw’s special banana bread, wheeling them around their store on the furniture dolly, and giving rides on the fork lift. Kenny leaves behind an enormous life and legacy to be remembered.
