Karen Murray

Karen Sue Murray, a long-time resident of Rockport died Friday the 1st of December at her home in Rockport.

Karen was born in December of 1941 in Wheeling West Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri, her Masters Degree in Community Health from the University of California, San Francisco and her doctorate in Public Health Administration from the University of Illinois. Karen received multiple awards in nursing throughout her education. During her career in education, Dr. Murray taught nursing at the University of Illinois, Case Western Reserve University and the University of Akron. Dr. Murray also executed the duties of Executive Director at Falconskeape Gardens in Medina, Ohio. In 1995 Karen moved to Rockport Texas with her family to continue a career in home health. Dr. Murray eventually retired as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.

Karen loved living in Rockport with her family and was an active member of the community. Karen will be remembered for her sense of style, her love of education and her absolute devotion to her family.

She is survived by her husband Peter, daughters Sheila and Madonna, son Ryan and four beautiful grandchildren.

There will be a memorial mass for Karen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport, Texas on December 16th at 2pm. It will be followed by a reception at the Murray residence in Rockport.
