In loving memory of Judith Louise Hargraves, a cherished wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Judy was born in Mancelona, Michigan on June 16, 1949, and was the eldest of three children. She came from a family of educators and had a passion for mathematics, so naturally, she became a high school math teacher. After receiving her degree, she met the love of her life, David George Hargraves, and they were married on August 17, 1973.
Their life together brought adventures, two daughters, and travels overseas. They resided in England for seven years and enjoyed many European destinations before settling down in Texas. She took breaks from teaching to raise her children, and then resumed her career after her daughters had graduated high school. After teaching for a total of 25 years, she retired to Rockport, Texas, a place she and Dave cherished and visited frequently for almost 30 years. She and Dave enjoyed fishing, Friday night dates, and going to the movies together like they did when they were first married. Judy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and always planned a special trip to the ice cream shop with them for a scoop of her beloved Dutch Chocolate.
When Judy was diagnosed with ALS, Dave cared for her at home so she would be more comfortable. She longed to walk and dance again, and was joy filled when her daughters and granddaughters visited and hosted their infamous dance parties. Sadly, on March 9, 2024, she lost her battle with ALS and was called to be with her Heavenly Father. She will be remembered for her kindness, passion for education, and bringing joy and a beautiful smile to everyone she met.
Judy is survived by her husband of fifty years; her two daughters, Michelle and Meredith (a.k.a. The M&M Sisters); her four grandchildren: Harrison, Logan, and Cameron Enszer, and Lillian Testerman; her brother, Charles Howe.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Lyle Howe, and her sister, Rebecca Morgan.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport, Texas on Saturday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Aransas Memorial Park and a luncheon at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass at 1:00 p.m.
